Research shows that teaching students to use metacognitive strategies when they read is one of the keys to reading success. I took this on while I was still teaching in second grade and still use it while teaching fourth. Some of the ideas were inspired by the infamous Beth Newingham, and others I adapted from the book Strategies that Work. Happy sticking!
